THIRD PERSON ADVENTURE LEVEL DESIGN

INTRODUCTION

I tried to create an Uncharted-inspired level, This level takes place mid-game, where the main character is following the goons to the treasure spot.

MY GOAL

Since One Week was a very short deadline to make an Uncharted-type level, I tried to focus on Gameplay Variety and Pacing instead of Detailing the level. I wanted to provide Multiple Gameplay Options, Vistas, and Uncharted’s Signature Action.

VISTAS

I worked on multiple Vista Points throughout the level, for the player to have some quiet time and look over the scenery. The Vista points also help in planning out the level in their mind.

UNCHARTED ACTION

Along with Gameplay variety, I also worked on a segment where the player is forced to grapple and jump through a huge gap to reach the end.

SNIPER ZONE

Through careful placement, the player gets ahold of an Enemy Sniper while being on high ground.

REFLECTIONS

Overall I'm pretty happy with how the level turned out considering the One Week Deadline. The level uses almost all of the player's tools and gameplay elements which helps the overall pacing of the level. This is definitely a project I want to come back to and work on it more to make it grander as well as detail every section of the level.
